Grenada

Grenada is a Caribbean paradise. With sloping hills, perfect beaches, an active harbor and even a nightlife, many travelers consider Grenada their favorite Caribbean Island. A special treat on Grenada is the abundance of spice fields. Fragrant cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg in row after row of plantings add a touch of exotic discovery to your Caribbean vacation.

Grenada is actually a nation of three Caribbean islands: Grenada, Petit Martinique, and Carriacou. These two secondary islands are tiny, the former at just under 500 acres and Carriacou at just 13 square miles. Grenada itself is only 21 by 12 miles. Their flag is as quaint as ever, with nutmeg pictured prominently on its colors. Nutmeg is Grenada’s number one national product, so it’s actually no quaint thing at all but rather big business for this tiny island.

But Grenada is much more than a tiny island with spice fields. The scenery and the capital city of St. George’s rival any tourist destination in the world, with beaches and rainforests as well as resorts and hilly scenery. Discover monkeys and a world of tropical birds in the rainforests of Grenada. Then head over to St. George’s for fine dining and a night view of the incredibly huge and active harbor.

The French owned Grenada at one point, and their influence is still felt at the area restaurants, lucky for you! The food is one of the main attractions in town, so don’t miss an opportunity for some excellent dining while on your Grenada vacation in paradise.

There are many ways to take in the natural beauty of Grenada. Snorkeling, diving, and fishing are the obvious choices for water sports. But on land, a day or even just an afternoon spent exploring the rain forest of Grenada will leave your heart pounding and your mind racing. Opt for an Adventure Jeep tour and safari and swim in a waterfall after traversing the rugged terrain in your jeep. Eco tours often include refreshments, which will be served in an ideal setting such as the shores of a lake, or a mountain top.

The natural beauty can also be experienced on your own, at High North National Park. Explore all day, and also visit Caribbee

Other land activities include visiting a 300 year old plantation, Belmont Estate. Here you can learn about Grenada culture and history. Eat lunch and enjoy Creole cuisine for a perfect afternoon.

Grenada has a little bit of everything for every traveler, so rest assured, no matter who you’re traveling with, you’ll all have a super vacation.
